Description:

Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple is seeking a nurturing and collaborative director of our Early Childhood Center (ECC). Our ECC has been awarded five stars, the highest possible ranking, from Step Up to Quality, a rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

 

Our mission is to create a warm and inviting environment that allows and encourages our children to grow and flourish with the help and direction of trained early childhood educators; to encourage each child’s potential through exploration and discovery; to help each child grow socially, cognitively, emotionally, physically, creatively, and spiritually, and to provide our children with the best possible education to make the transition to primary school successful.

 

In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the program, the ECC Director is responsible for shaping the direction and vision of the school, implementing appropriate play-based curriculum and practices, developing and managing the school’s annual budget, and serving as the main point of contact for current and prospective ECC families. Our incoming ECC Director will lead our ECC faculty, working closely with school families and sustaining a caring school community. Our ECC Director serves on the Senior Leadership Team of Fairmount Temple’s staff and works collaboratively with the clergy and education teams. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Guiding and engaging Fairmount Temple learners and their families by fostering a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment
  • Recruiting, hiring, supervising, mentoring, and supporting outstanding teachers, and creating a culture of mutual support, growth and collaboration
  • Implementing holiday, parenting, and family programs that support the mission and guiding values of Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple
  • Recruiting and enrolling new families, while building relationships with current families
  • Evaluating current ECC curriculum and programming, and adapting to reflect best practices for developmentally appropriate learning
  • Ensuring the high quality of our programming through adherence to all state and excellence standards and licensing requirements
  • Developing and managing the operating budget for our Early Childhood Center
  • Managing day-to-day operations of our Early Childhood Center in collaboration with the Temple administrative team including communication, marketing, enrollment, and facilities management
  • Participating in Temple board meetings when appropriate
  • Engage in continuing education in Early Childhood Education
  • Implementing emergency protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with the education and clergy teams of Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education which meets the current requirements of a 5 Star Step-Up to Quality Center in the State of Ohio including one of the following:
    • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or an approved related field
    • Bachelor’s degree with a Career Path Level 5
    • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Career Path Level 3
    • Bachelor’s degree in an approved related field with an administrator’s license
  • 3+ years experience in early childhood education
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and promote positive and supportive relationships
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic proficiency in budgeting


Preferred Experience:

  • Understanding of Judaism and its traditions and demonstrated commitment to Jewish education
  • Experience managing and working alongside others who have different work styles
  • Training in first aid, CPR (infant, child, and adult) and AED, recognition of child abuse, and recognition of communicable diseases
  • Program development experience

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary between $55,000-70,000 commensurate with experience
  • Health insurance
