San Francisco’s Reconstructing Judaism community, Or Shalom, seeks an Executive Assistant (EA) The EA contributes integrally to the overall success of the community- supporting the Executive Director, religious and lay leaders, communication, website and social media.

Candidate must be detail oriented and proficient at organization, Windows-based computers, written and oral communications, including CRM programs, and social media platforms. The candidate will be energetic, warm and be a spokesperson for Or Shalom.

Requirements include:

  • Strong knowledge of CRM’s, Word, Excel and Publisher
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, administrative and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities include:

  • Event and volunteer management
  • Communication with community
  • Updating website
  • Increasing social media presence
  • Assisting with Religious school administrative tasks
  • Enhancing membership growth
  • Scheduling appointments for the Executive Director


Warm and easy to talk to- This person will be kind, approachable, friendly, warm and will be skilled in communicating verbally and by email.

Good with details- This person will coordinate multiple calendars, catch potential scheduling conflicts, and foresee a plan for logistical needs of programs and services. This person will ensure that the communications from our office are accurate professional quality.

Organized-This person will need to be an excellent time manager, prioritizing tasks and projects.

Computer Skills-This person will need to be efficient and effective using a CRM program, Word, Excel, Publisher.

Jewish knowledge- This person will need to know or be ready to learn the basic holidays and traditions of Judaism. This person will need to feel comfortable working in a Jewish environment.

Additional information- While some of the admin components of this position can be done remotely, the person must live in the Bay Area, as many of the responsibilities involve face-to-face meetings and being present for in-person events in San Francisco.

Desired experience- This person will have 2-3 years of experience working as an Executive Assistant or in a similar position.

Salary and hours - Commensurate with experience, 20-25 flexible hours weekly, working remotely and on site when needed.
