About the Position:
The Teen Programs Director supervises the day-to-day management of all programs serving the NJY Camps’ teen community (entering 10th and 11th grade), including Teen Camp and TAC Israel, reaching 200-300 campers each summer. The Teen Programs Director is responsible for year-round camper
recruitment and engagement, staff hiring, and the delivery of programming, both in camp and on travel experiences. In collaboration with other agency-wide personnel, the Teen Programs Director oversees and informs the budgeting, marketing, vendor relations, partnership development, operational planning, and facility management needs of all programs. During the summer, the Teen Programs Director lives on-site in Milford, PA and supervises a staffing infrastructure of approximately 50 individuals housed either at camp or in Israel. This position will report to the Director of Cedar Lake
Camp and will support the broader operations of the Cedar Lake campus, on which Teen Camp is located.


Recruit and Retain Campers
• Steward all inquiries and leads through parent communications, assisting with in-person and virtual home visits, and camp tours when necessary
• Build a framework of innovative engagement tactics to reach the teen audience in new and unique ways
• Ongoing outreach to existing and previous camp families
• Manage scholarship allocations and other grant and discount programs for Teen Programs
• Serve as the face and voice for Teen Camp and TAC Israel at camper recruitment and other agency and community events

Build a Summer Team of Rockstars
• Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and training efforts of all seasonal camp staff that work in the Teen Programs
• Utilize recruitment avenues to search for, screen, and hire seasonal staff members
• Build a leadership team through which you will delegate summer supervisory responsibilities both at camp and in Israel
• Collaboratively build and institute policies, procedures, and practices to define camp’s culture

Create a Transformational Summer Program
• Define the Teen Programs’ big picture programmatic vision and communicate it to all staff and stakeholders
• Work in collaboration with the Cedar Lake Camp Director and Assistant Director on agency-wide program planning
• Coordinate all elements of the TAC Israel experience in collaboration with JCC Association’s Israel Office as the program’s trip provider
• Plan and deliver two individual 4-5 day travel experiences for all Milford-based TAC campers to destinations ranging from Costa Rica, California, Canada, and others
• Manage the camp’s program budget and ordering of all supplies and equipment
• Infuse Jewish and Israel content into all elements of the camp experience
• Foster an environment of creativity and ingenuity

Be a Master Organizer
• Support the running of a complex framework of operational systems including medical
provision, food service, facility maintenance, and office administration
• Assist in the proper opening and closing of camp’s physical property
• Maintain a physical presence in and around camp

Model Expert Leadership
• Manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders including partners, vendors, camp families, staff, and alumni
• Apply sound crisis management strategies on an ongoing basis
• Be open to being managed up
• Serve as a role model for both campers and staff


Required Experience:

• 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
• Experience in a seasonal camp leadership capacity
• A proven track record of successfully managing a diverse range of relationships
• Expertise in a variety of areas of camp and teen travel management including recruitment, marketing, staffing, budgeting, logistical planning, purchasing, and program development
• Knowledge of and experience navigating the travel industry (flights, hotels, transportation, entertainment)
• Experience working independently, with a great deal of autonomy, and in a flexible work environment

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary range of $55-70K based on a full-time 40-hour work week during the off season and living on site at camp during the summer
