Program Director

University of Tampa Hillel 

What You’ll Do

  • Engage and inspire students to take ownership of their personal Jewish identity.
  • Work with student leaders to fashion and implement a vision of Jewish life on campus that provides multiple entry points for a broad range of students.
  • Develop leadership opportunities for students who desire deeper involvement in Jewish life on campus.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty members and administrators.
  • Create and manage the UT Hillel program budget.
  • Create a network of parents and alumni to serve as ambassadors.

What you'll own and how you'll grow:

Strategic Vision and Leadership

  • Develop new initiatives in concert with the Strategic Vision of the Hillels of the Florida Suncoast that increase the quality of Jewish life on campus and the number of Jewish students engaged in Jewish life.
  • Inspire dedicated student leaders while promoting a culture of excellence and creativity within Hillel.
  • Build and maintain supportive, constructive relationships with students, staff, alumni, parents, community members and University administrators.

Jewish Student Life

  • Partner with students to envision and implement pluralistic, inclusive, innovative Jewish education and programs on campus, engaging with and encouraging students to develop meaningful Jewish journeys and experiences.
  • Act as a Jewish educator and advisor, modeling for students a positive relationship with Jewish life, learning and Israel.
  • Ensure that Hillel at the University of Tampa promotes the values of pluralism and inclusion, is welcoming to a broad range of students and encourages a broad range of Jewish expression and practice.
  • Prioritize Taglit-Birthright Israel as a key engagement opportunity that will both grow student participation in Hillel overall as well as promote a healthy relationship with Israel.
  • Oversee communications, including social media, to sustain high visibility of Hillel among key constituencies on and off campus.
  • Ensure that Hillel initiates and maintains contact with all known Jewish students at the University of Tampa.

Student Leadership Development

  • Assist individual Jewish students in developing leadership and community-building skills.
  • Recruit excellent Jewish student leaders and support them in building Jewish community.
  • Promote and support the development of new, interest-based student groups and initiatives.

Data Collection and Measurement

  • Oversee collection of key contact information and data from all students who participate in Hillel activities or meet on campus.
  • Oversee the evaluation of Hillel's programming, measurement of overall participation in Hillel activities and recording of individual participation in signature activities, initiatives and groups.

Community Relations

  • Provide Executive Director written program highlights, success stories and accomplishments that can be shared with key stakeholders.
  • Promote Hillel as a valued partner on campus and in the community while actively participating in the life of the University and the Tampa Jewish community.
  • Advocate on behalf of Jewish students and Jewish interests on campus while calling on appropriate outside Jewish organizational resources for support.
  • Develop appropriate opportunities to showcase Hillel at UT with community stakeholders, including Suncoast Hillels’ board members and donors and key stakeholders in the Tampa Jewish community.
  • Promote Hillel as an indispensable partner to the University that enriches student life and the overall campus community.

Human Resources

  • Maintain effective human resource practices, including annual goal setting and year-end performance evaluation.
  • Participate in weekly supervision/mentoring meetings with the Executive Director of the Suncoast Hillels.
  • Work as a team player with all other staff members of the Suncoast Hillels. 

What you'll bring to the job:

  • Minimum of two to three years of professional experience.  
  • Experience in building programs and initiatives..
  • Passion for and commitment to the Jewish growth of college students.
  • Understanding of the university culture.
  • A strong Jewish knowledge base, commitment to Jewish learning, understanding of Jewish community, culture, heritage and traditions. Experience in Israel (visiting or living).
  • A strong commitment to Jewish pluralism and diversity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work during all Jewish holidays, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with Google applications and online social networking.
  • An ability to work as a semi-solo professional.

What You’ll Receive

  • The salary range for this role is $45,000-$50,000.
