Tufts Hillel seeks a part-time Jewish Educator to assist in building and supporting the Reform minyan at Tufts and to provide outreach to the greater Tufts student community. This includes leading programs, occasional services and text study, and serve as a pastoral/advisory resource to students. Individuals historically underrepresented in rabbinic communities (i.e., gender/racial minorities) are strongly encouraged to apply.
A significant part of this rabbi’s role will be to reach out to students outside Hillel with the specific goal of providing access points to Jewish identity and making the Hillel space feel accessible and welcoming. This could include holding office hours, getting coffee with students, and more.
Serve as resource to students for pastoral/life cycle support and general advice.
Lead text studies and other religious/spiritual events, open to all, but through a Reform Jewish lens.
Attend Reform community events and occasionally attend Shabbat services, especially on big, themed weeks. When attending Shabbat services, they will be encouraged to deliver Divrei Torah to both minyanim (Reform and Conservative).
Support the Reform minyan leaders with any theological or community-building questions.
Tufts University Hillel Foundation is affiliated with Hillel International. Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.
About Hillel International
In 1923, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel started Hillel with humble means, a noble mission and a breathtaking vision: to convey Jewish civilization to a new generation. Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at more than 550 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.
Hillel is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an accepting and inclusive environment for all.
