Our client, San Diego Hebrew Day www.hebrewday.org is seeking an experienced, talented Jewish educator to join them as either their next Head of School, or Assistant Head of School.

A Passionate & Inspiring Educator
The candidate must be an experienced and trained educator with foundational understanding of educational theory and its application. A strategist able to embrace change, they will have a track record of success at communicating goals, achieving progress, and generating support. They must have a passion for Jewish learning and secular studies, as well as love of Zionism and the State of Israel. They must embrace a school culture that is respectful and welcoming to families across the spectrum of Jewish affiliation.
A Decisive Leader
The candidate will be a collaborative leader with an accessible and approachable style, with a willingness to listen to new ideas and offering creative solutions to challenges. They will be a coalition builder who creates a work environment, conducive to sincere and open communication. They will have demonstrated success in building consensus and sensitively embrace the strengths of every community member. Through patient, active listening, they will hear and value all sides and lean on all opinions to make decisions as necessary — and stand by those decisions.
Foster Collaboration
They will support and advance our school culture of cooperation and respect. Through sincere communication and within a clear framework for decision making, they will ensure that all members of the School community appreciate and uphold the mission of the school, forming a cohesive team that works for the good of all students. Administrators and teachers will feel valued by them, as decisions aligned with the School’s mission and goals are made. They need to demonstrate a track record of developing strong relationships with parents, teachers, students, fellow administrators and other community leaders. As Head of School they need to have a willingness and relevant skills to raise funds for the benefit of SDHD.
Model and Inspiration of Jewish Living
The candidate will embody and embrace the Hebrew Day mission, modeling a Torah way of life and inspiring the School community with love of Judaism, Torah, and Israel. They must be a warm, engaging person with strong “people skills,” demonstrating genuine interest in and respect for all people. As a leader in the San Diego Jewish Community, they will represent the school in recruiting new students and faculty, and in encouraging others to invest in the school’s students and the community’s Jewish future.
Qualifications:
- Orthodox Rabbinic ordination required; graduate studies and achievements valued.
- 5+ years administrative or leadership experience in an Orthodox day school / Yeshiva.
- Leadership qualities and eagerness to be visible and engaged in all areas of school life.

San Diego Hebrew Day is the first Orthodox Jewish day school in San Diego. It offers infant care through eighth grade programs to a diverse Jewish community. The school offers a rigorous, foundational Judaic and general studies program, encouraging all students to continue Jewish learning after graduation.
