Troy Area Temple Youth (TATY) Co-Advisors

TATY is Congregation Shir Tikvah’s youth group. All middle and high school aged teens (8th- 12th grades), who are current members of CST are welcome and encouraged to participate in TATY activities. Although participation in the Madrichim Program and Kesher are encouraged, they are not a requirement for TATY membership.

Position: TATY Co-Advisor

Supervisor: CST Director of Lifelong Learning (Sarah Chisholm) and the CST Youth Director (Carrie Keough)


  • ·  Provide leadership and function as the primary staff person for TATY.

  • ·  Oversee the recruitment and supervision of adult volunteers to work with TATY.

  • ·  Plan and implement appropriate activities for TATY that encourage our teens to stay connected to CST and the larger Jewish community.

· Along with the Co-Advisor, attend and supervise all TATY functions, including Camp Tikvah and one Shul-In (TATY Shabbaton/sleep-over at CST). Stay with the TATY group at all functions, for the entire time, and ensure all youth are fully and continually supervised and all CST rules and policies are followed.
· Work within the TATY budget, track income and expenses for events, and oversee fundraising where appropriate.
· Coordinate TATY activities on an approximately monthly basis, taking into consideration Kesher programming, the CST calendar and previously scheduled Family Ed programs.
· Coordinate all TATY activities and programs with Rabbi Alicia Harris, Sarah Chisholm, and Carrie Keough to ensure TATY events do not conflict with, and are complementary to, those of CST.

  • ·  Communicate regularly with TATY members and their parents.

  • ·  Provide a monthly report for the Board of Trustees

  • ·  Encourage TATY to form its own leadership committee and work with that committee in planning and implementing events.

    Qualifications desired:

    • ·  Experience working with teens

    • ·  Excellent communication and organizational skills

    • ·  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with CST Staff and clergy as well as volunteers

    • ·  Have demonstrated a commitment to Jewish life and values

    • ·  Flexible schedule is a must

      Must submit and pass a background check

We are currently seeking 2 TATY co-advisors. This is a paid position and the term runs from July 1, 2022-2023 with an annual, prorated, salary of $2500 per year per advisor. All expenses while participating in TATY programming will also be covered (i.e. Camp Tikvah registration fees, admission to planned events, etc.).
