Finance Associate – Massachusetts 

 

Ramah New England, which operates three coed summer camps (one overnight and two day camps) that enroll over 1,500 youth (headquartered in – Norwood, MA) is hiring a full-time year-round position to assist in its financial operations.  

 

Ramah New England has a budget of $10+ million and offers a dynamic experience for Jewish youth/ young adults each year.  Our overnight camp is located in Palmer MA and our day camps are located in Waltham MA and Germantown MD. The Finance Associate will join a team of 20 other highly motivated year-round professionals. Camp Ramah New England prides itself on being innovative and inclusive, offering programs and services for children and young adults across our camps. We recently introduced Camp Sasson, weekend experiences for children and their families who have experienced the loss of a parent or who are in treatment for cancer.  

 

The location of the job is Norwood, MA (a Boston suburb) during the off-season and work from our overnight camp in Palmer MA for the summer camp season (June-August). 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Bookkeeping that covers the following areas: A/P(Bill.com), bank deposits, department reconciliations, account reconciliations, and draft financial reports. 
  • Track credit card charges daily 
  • Payroll processing. 
  • Assist with Human Resources needs including preparing new hire packages, and benefits administration  
  • Distributing petty cash 
  • Working with families submitting scholarship applications 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials and information 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor including filing, participation in special events, and occasional backup support for the reception desk. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Firm knowledge of MS Office applications and QuickBooks Desktop. 
  • Knowledge of GAAP and understanding of the basic principles of grant/fund accounting. 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service communication via telephone, electronic communications, and in person. 
  • Understanding of basic Human Resources such as payroll/benefits processing. 
  • Familiarity with basic concepts of IT 
  • Familiarity with databases (Raisers Edge & CampMinder preferred) 
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities and meet deadlines. 

 

Salary: $45,000–$55,000 annually, based on experience.
