Congregation Olam Tikvah is a warm, welcoming conservative congregation in Fairfax, Virginia with a well-established preschool that has served families for over fifty years. We are now hiring lead and assistant teachers for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

 Olam Tikvah Preschool (OTPS) is a play based, child centered preschool serving our community and beyond. Teachers work collaboratively within the classrooms and between the classrooms.   In partnership with parents, teachers observe the children’s development and plan children’s curriculum based on current child development knowledge.   

 OTPS is seeking to fill Lead and Assistant Teacher positions for the 2026 - 2027 school year.  For the lead teacher, a college degree is preferred, preferably in early childhood education, but extensive experience is acceptable.   For assistant teachers, some college is a plus, but not necessary.  Some experience is preferred.  Compensation based on experiance.

 

Lead Teacher Qualifications:

  • Have previous experience working in an early childhood setting
  • Hold a degree (associates, bachelors or above) in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Have excellent communication skills – specifically with parents
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays and culture
  • Ability to implement child centered curriculum
  • Able to work collaboratively with other teachers and assistant teachers
  • Able to engage with the daily activities of a preschooler – including sitting on the floor and lifting.
  • Love of singing, playing and being outside

Responsibilities of Lead and Assistant Teachers include but are not limited to:

  • Attend staff meetings, Back to School events, parent/teacher conferences and attend occasional OTPS programs that are scheduled outside of usual working hours.
  • Maintain current CPR, First Aide, and epipen certification.
  • Submit TB and health forms as required.
  • Submit lesson plans to director.
  • Maintain child assessments throughout the year to facilitate Parent/Teacher conferences.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
  • Daily uploads to our app to keep parents informed of classroom experiences.
