Position Overview:

Hebrew Academy of Miami, a growing Modern Orthodox school in sunny Miami Beach, is seeking a qualified and passionate Middle School Math Teacher who possesses exceptional teaching skills and expertise in mathematics, specifically in Algebra 1 and Geometry. This position requires the ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment while delivering comprehensive math instruction to middle school students. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable, patient, and enthusiastic about fostering a love for mathematics among students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement effective lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with the school's curriculum and state standards, specifically focusing on middle school math topics and concepts, including Algebra 1 and Geometry.
  2. Utilize a variety of teaching methods, strategies, and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students have an equal opportunity to succeed in math.
  3. Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes active student participation, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
  4. Provide clear explanations of mathematical concepts and procedures, supporting students in developing a deep understanding of mathematical principles.
  5. Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, tests, projects, and homework assignments, and provide constructive feedback to guide their academic growth.
  6. Utilize technology effectively in the classroom, incorporating educational software, online resources, and interactive tools to enhance math instruction.
  7. Identify and address individual learning needs of students through differentiation and personalized instruction, including enrichment and intervention strategies.
  8. Collaborate with other math teachers and school staff to develop and implement cohesive curriculum plans, aligning with the overall educational goals of the institution.
  9. Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents, and administrators regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  1. Participate in professional development activities and stay updated with the latest research, methodologies, and best practices in mathematics education.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field. 
  2. Teaching certification/license in Mathematics or Secondary Education (or equivalent).
  3. Proven experience in teaching middle school math, with expertise in Algebra 1 and Geometry.
  4. Strong knowledge and understanding of the relevant mathematical content, principles, and instructional strategies.
  5. Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, fostering student engagement and academic growth.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  7. Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and utilizing educational software and online resources for math teaching.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and staying up-to-date with current trends and research in mathematics education.
