POSITION: Manager, Schoenbaum Shinshinim

REPORTS TO: Director, Israel Education & Engagement

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Schoenbaum Shinshinim, will lead the day-to-day operations, mentorship, and partnerships for the Federation’s Schoenbaum Shinshinim Program.  The program, a partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), brings Israeli young emissaries (Shinshinim) to serve in the Greater Atlanta Jewish community. This full-time role is responsible for ensuring a meaningful, well-structured, and impactful experience for both the Shinshinim and the many institutions and individuals they serve.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Site Supervisors and community stakeholders to ensure alignment with the program's mission and goals. 
  • Conduct regular site visits to observe Shinshinim in action, celebrate successes, offer constructive feedback, and support their growth as educators and cultural ambassadors. 
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of Shinshinim host families.
  • Facilitate communication between Shinshinim, host institutions, and families to address concerns and strengthen collaborative partnerships. 
  • Manage all administrative and operational aspects of the Shinshinim program
  • Design and facilitate a multi-week orientation program for each new Shinshinim cohort.  
  • Serve as a coach and advisor for lesson planning, classroom engagement, and navigating challenges within placements. 
  • Curate a rotating schedule of guest speakers and workshops led by Jewish professionals, educators, and communal leaders.
  • Organize experiential learning opportunities, including site visits to synagogues, schools, and Jewish organizations across the region.
  • Design and implement evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of the Shinshinim program, including feedback surveys, site supervisor reports, and participant reflection forms. 
  • Share key insights and outcomes with stakeholders through reports, presentations, or debrief meetings to maintain transparency and drive ongoing improvement. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Federation and JAFI, maintaining strong working relationships with Israel-based staff and program liaisons. 
  • Attend national and international conferences, consortiums, and strategic conversations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work or a related human services field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with young people, volunteers and/or community-based organizations. 
  • Experience designing and implementing educational curriculum, trainings, and cultural competency.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Jewish community & Jewish values.    
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to connect with people of varying ages and life stages.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office core applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) .
  • A high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Available to travel in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Understanding of Israeli culture preferred.
  • Fluent in Hebrew a plus.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimal physical effort required with intermittent standing and walking and prolonged periods of sitting in meetings or at a desk working with a computer.

 

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $71,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
