Join the dynamic People & Culture team at UJA-Federation of New York, where we work to foster an inclusive, engaging, vibrant and supportive workplace culture! We’re looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic People & Culture Assistant who will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our People and Culture department. In this position, you’ll provide high-level administrative support, help implement meaningful employee programs and ensure our People & Culture processes run smoothly. You’ll also support the Vice President and Director of the department, gaining exposure to all aspects of HR in a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities:
In this multifaceted role, you’ll:

  • Serve as a friendly and helpful point of contact for employee questions related to People & Culture policies and forms.
  • Manage onboarding documentation, including I-9 verification, ensuring everything is accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Help bring great talent to Team UJA by crafting job postings.
  • Train new hires on timesheet procedures and audit weekly submissions for accuracy.
  • Oversee ID card processing for staff, temps, lay leaders, and tenants.
  • Track and process contracts and invoices and submit payments.
  • Share employee birthday and anniversary milestones with our senior management.
  • Support managers through the initial employment period process.
  • Send daily celebratory messages to employees and weekly staff announcements.
  • Prepare insightful monthly reports to inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate employee discount programs and liaise with benefit vendors (e.g., gyms).
  • Assist in planning employee engagement activities, including staff recognition and wellness programs, seasonal events, and learning opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date organizational charts.
  • Keep employee files and archives in tip-top shape.
  • Jump in on special projects and opportunities to make an impact.

 

What You Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience through an HR internship or relevant coursework in human resources.
  • A strong appreciation for Jewish culture and traditions—and a connection to our mission.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—you enjoy helping others.
  • Top-notch organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A strong eye for detail and a commitment to high-quality work.

  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in a diverse team environment.
  • Initiative, good judgment, and a positive, can-do attitude.

Salary 

The salary for this position is $50,000 annually.

TIME OFF

We offer a generous number of vacation days and have the Jewish holidays off as well. Fridays our offices close early (October to March at 3:00 pm and April to September at 4:00 pm). All so you can relax and recharge.
