Religious School Teacher Job Description

Peninsula Temple Sholom (PTS) in Burlingame, California is a diverse and vibrant Reform Jewish synagogue serving 2,000 adults and children. Every member of our staff helps us create a warm and welcoming environment through the work that they do and the way in which they interact with the community. 

PTS is looking for teachers for our Youth Education program, specifically for the 4th and 6th grade classes. The program meets weekly on Sunday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am for 22 sessions throughout the school year. Successful teachers will show interest in Jewish life and learning, will be dynamic and flexible, and will be responsible. We provide curriculum outlines and teaching materials for lesson plans. Pay starts at $50 per hour for first-time teachers and increases with experience. You will be paid for 30 minutes of preparation time for every two hours taught.
