Seeking Lead Educator for Beth Am’s New Shabbat Preschool Program
The Position: We are currently seeking an experienced early-childhood educator to lead our new program for preschool aged students. The group will meet on Shabbat mornings from 10AM-12PM. This new “Shabbat Pre-school program” that will allow young children to participate in an age appropriate Shabbat experience including freeplay, Shabbat activities, storytelling, and a clergy led musical service. This offering will also allow parents of young children to attend Shabbat services while their kids are engaged.
The educator will work with the Director of Youth and Family Education to plan the flow of the Shabbat morning program, manage high-school aged aides, and make sure the program runs smoothly. A successful candidate will have experience working in an early education classroom, and will have some knowledge about Shabbat, Jewish holidays, and other topics. The candidate will be highly creative, compassionate toward young children and their families, and will be a good communicator with synagogue staff.

Shabbat morning is a primary gathering time for Beth Am congregants, where Beth Amers gather for Shabbat morning services, Torah study, Shabbasana Yoga, and our innovative youth services. Our youth services are attended by a wide array of youth, including many children in our Jewish Discovery Lab religious school and others who attend Jewish Day School during the week. Youth services allow children 0-12 to learn the rhythm of a Shabbat morning service, build community with each other, and explore Jewish topics and themes in creative and Shabbat-friendly ways.
