Agudas Achim Congregation (AAC) of Northern Virginia is a progressive Conservative synagogue of over 550 households. The Communications and Office Coordinator position combines administrative, coordination, and communication responsibilities.  The administrative and coordination pieces involve assisting the Executive Director with the day-to-day running of synagogue projects, activities, and events. The communications responsibilities involve advancing and supporting consistent and high-quality communications to help market and publicize our activities and engage with the community, to include helping us connect with those looking to become part of our congregation. 

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the congregation’s Master Calendar including updates and program details.

  • Prepare and disseminate electronic and print materials (e.g. Shabbat Announcements, Membership Directory, program sign up forms).
  • Coordinate online annual community commitment and High Holiday registration and programming, and StepAhead Emergency Texting Database.
  • Provide customer service to members of the community and future membership.
  • Maintain stock of supplies, order office supplies, and office coordination.
  • Assist with the development of accurate and compelling content related to programming and policies across the congregation’s media platforms, including social media, website, weekly e-news, e-mail blasts, and print materials (e.g. Shabbat Announcements, Membership Directory).
  • Edit congregation’s print materials
  • Collaborate with AAC committees and work groups to optimize use of social media, the website, emergency texting program, scheduling of Zoom based programs, and online calendar to engage members and prospective members.
  • Website management
  • Support AAC senior staff and members in development of engaging programs and effective marketing strategies.
  • Staff Program Council meetings twice a year to develop annual Community Calendar.

Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in Office applications including but not limited to Office 365 applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and social media.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly with synagogues combined website and relational database (ShulCloud, which has member email capabilities for blast emails, newsletters, online invitations with registration ability) and other programs.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented; adept at prioritizing and multi-tasking effectively.
  • Management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; team player who thrives in a collegial environment.

 

Knowledge of and interest in Jewish culture preferred.

Full-time; some hours may be remote.

Preferred Experience: Minimum 1-3 years experience

Preferred Degree: Bachelors
