The National Library of Israel USA (NLI USA) builds support in the United States for the National Library of Israel to enhance and expand the impact of the Library’s collections, cultural programs, and educational resources. This is done through increasing public awareness, broadening relevant partnerships, engaging in programming, and strengthening philanthropic support. NLI USA is located in New York, and works closely with the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem.

NLI USA seeks an intern to assist in creating a social media presence for NLI USA and to generally support the marketing, communications, and development operations. This internship is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a world-class, well-established cultural institution and, at the same time, to experience a start-up non-profit environment through your work with NLI USA. The internship will be primarily remote, with a strong preference for someone in New York or Chicago. Training and mentoring will be integrated into the internship.


  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining NLI USA’s social media presence

  • Assist in content selection and updating of NLI USA website via WordPress

  • Edit and assist in designing email templates, event and news announcements, and other marketing


  • Assist in program partnership and cultural organization outreach work

  • Track, input, and report on marketing and development data

  • Edit case statements, grant proposals, and donor letters

  • Conduct grantor and donor research

  • Design PowerPoint presentations

  • Assist with events 


  • Excellent facility with social media tools and platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • Superior writing, editing, and presentation design skills (PowerPoint)
  • Passion for writing, messaging, and communications
  • Detail-oriented
  • Facility with Excel and/or database work
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of NLI USA
  • Previous internship or related experience preferred
  • Sincere interest in non-profit career preferred

Start Date: Fall 2022 12-week minimum commitment preferred Hours: 5-10 hours per week Compensation: Stipend available
