Reports to: Executive Director

FLSA Status: Fulltime, Exempt

Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000

Position Summary: 

The Senior Director of Social Impact is an integral role at NCJW. This position must understand how to use data-informed methods to develop impactful programming, projects, and advocacy agendas. The primary function of this role is overseeing the strategic direction of the Community Engagement department. In addition, this position builds and maintains relationships with internal and external decision makers and stakeholders to support the success of NCJWs holistic approach to advocacy and systems change in our three pillars of impact; Inclusive and Equitable Workspaces, Civic Engagement, and Reproductive Justice. A successful candidate in this role will bring expertise in evaluation, social impact work, and a people-first approach to team management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Planning
    • Work closely with the Executive Director to establish clear and aspirational, yet achievable, objectives for the Community Engagement department and adjacent advocacy priorities across the entire organization
    • Apply best practices in qualitative and quantitative data collection, and use findings to generate measurable outcomes
    • Consult with Board committees, partner organizations, coalitions, and community members
    • Maintain a working knowledge of NCJW Inc. [national organization] advocacy priorities, and make recommendations to leverage strategic impact work across the network
  • Management
    • Apply a compassionate and collaborative approach to supporting direct reports
    • Use best practices and organizational standards in goal setting
    • Understand the resources needed for the team to be successful in achieving their goals, and be prepared to advocate for and secure those resources
    • Act as a role model and leader, inspire the team around advocacy agendas and organizational values
    • Maintain strong SOPs for all projects and programs in the Community Engagement department
  • Reporting
    • Develop, evaluate, and present on internal and external reports that pertain to Community Engagement department
    • Apply best practices in reporting, and know how to “tell the story” using qualitative and quantitative data and visualizations
    • Have a strong understanding of all organizational metrics and draw throughlines across all NCJW departments
  • Financial/Other
    • Develop, monitor, and report on department budgets, including special projects and programs
    • Support grant applications and reports with established data metrics and written content
    • Support NCJW events and activities
    • Attend all relevant department and organizational meetings, as well as occasional board meetings

Qualifications & Work Experience: 

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in a management, operations, program management, or other leadership role
  • Proven experience with reporting and evaluation
  • Successful leadership track record in developing and achieving outcomes
  • History of developing social impact programs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and proven ability influence through strong and informed communication 
  • Experience with proposal and grant writing as well as understanding of the grant funding process
  • Demonstrated commitment to understanding the lived experiences of served community

  • Ability to form strategic coalitions to further the objectives of strategic programming 
  • Skilled at engaging and inspiring others to support and join initiatives and provide support to programming efforts
  • Ability to maintain a hopeful and positive outlook when outcomes take months or years to achieve

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to spend long periods sitting and conducting computer work
  • Must be able to travel to Harrisburg or other out-of-city locations on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to periodically work evenings and/or weekends
