Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon, CA seeks an experienced, talented, and dedicated leader to serve as our next Executive Director (ED). The ED is a critical member of the senior leadership team ensuring that Kol Shofar continues to thrive both spiritually and financially. The ED has primary responsibility for synagogue financial and operational management, including fundraising, human resources, communications, membership engagement, facilities, and security.

Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Collaborate with the clergy and board to define and meet Kol Shofar’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Implement the vision and policies ensuring goals and objectives are met.
  • Represent Kol Shofar with other Jewish and community organizations.

Financial Management + Oversight

  • Work with the Treasurer and Finance Committee to ensure sound financial management; develop and maintain appropriate financial systems and controls to ensure legal compliance, integrity, and transparency.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including supervision of accounting staff and contractors.
  • Partner with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to create and manage the budget,
  • Work with the Controller to ensure production of accurate and timely financial reports with regular reports to the board.

Fundraising

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap to increase annual revenue and donor engagement.
  • Oversee all fundraising activities.
  • Develop strategy for multi-channel communications.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy.

Membership + Communications

  • Ensure optimal member engagement for new and existing members.
  • Manage and oversee internal and external communications, marketing, and online presence,

Operations + Facility

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the synagogue.
  • Oversee administrative, facility, and preschool staff with 7 direct reports.
  • Work closely with the Preschool Director to ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Develop facility guidelines including rentals, life-cycle events, and use of kitchen/catering.
  • Oversee management of property including renovations and upgrades.
  • Maintain current synagogue security and emergency response best practices.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in a related field a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of management experience. Experience in a membership-focused non-profit preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial and budgeting practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fundraising, operational, and administrative management.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required. Experience with CRMs required. Experience with ShulCloud preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with maturity, discretion, and professionalism.

 

This is a full-time position that reports to the Board of Directors. Hours will include some required Jewish holidays, weekends, and evenings. This position is predominantly on-site with limited remote work.

Compensation:  $130,000 - $150,000 Depending on Experience
