Lead Campus Professional (Victoria, BC) 

This role is based in Victoria, BC. 

Role Overview

The Lead Campus Professional (LCP) is responsible for serving current students, reaching out to new and under-involved students, and implementing Hillel BC’s program and engagement strategy on the University of Victoria* campus. The LCP will build relationships with students while working with them to plan events inside and outside the Hillel house and create a warm, welcoming environment for Jewish students throughout campus. The LCP will work as part of the Hillel BC team. 

*includes other post secondary institutions in and around Victoria 

What You’ll Do

  • Actively contribute to shaping UVic Hillel by mentoring and training student leaders
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with student leadership by supporting and empowering their work and meeting regularly with emerging and current leaders
  • Plan and facilitate monthly student leadership meetings
  • Work cooperatively/collaboratively with segments of the student leadership (such as Hillel exec boards, Arts, Greek life, social justice etc) to build positive on-going relationships with students 
  • Develop one-one-one relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work and/or study, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them 
  • Identify a portfolio of students currently less engaged with Jewish life on campus and create a plan to connect them to meaningful opportunities 
  • Create and maintain relationships with other Jewish organizations in Victoria including but not limited to Jewish Federation of Victoria and Vancouver Island (JFFVI), Chabad of Victoria, local synagogues 
  • Oversee the logistics for Shabbat and Holiday programming
  • Participate as a member of the Hillel BC staff team in major programs, Shabbat, and holidays

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • 0-3 years professional work experience
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Valid driver's license and access to a car is ideal 
  • Experience with Jewish and Israel education and outreach 
  • Understanding that students will connect with Judaism in a variety of different ways
  • Interest in continuing to develop your own relationship to Judaism and Israel

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $42,000 - $46,000 - commensurate with experience
