About the Role

The Director of J-LAB Education & Engagement leads innovative Jewish Learning and youth engagement experiences, fostering connection, belonging, and vibrant Jewish life for children, teens, and families. This role blends educational leadership with community building to create meaningful, joyful, and relevant Jewish experiences.

J-LAB serves as the hub of our synagogue’s religious school and youth programming, shaping how young people and families learn, connect , and engage in Jewish Life.

The ideal candidate is a creative and enthusiastic leader with strong interpersonal skills. You are highly organized, technologically proficient, and committed to fostering meaningful Jewish education and youth engagement. About B’nai Shalom of Olney

B’nai Shalom of Olney (BSO) is a multi-generational community committed to making Judaism accessible, inclusive, and relevant within north-central Montgomery County, Maryland. As a community hub, BSO hosts religious services, holiday events, social groups, and educational programs. Home to 270 families, an Early Childhood School, and Religious School, our congregation is deeply committed to vibrant and meaningful Jewish education and youth engagement. Our K-10 educational program, Jewish Learning at B’nai Shalom (J-LAB), emphasizes experiential, hands-on learning to foster a strong foundation in Jewish traditions and teachings. Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in education, Jewish education, Jewish studies, or a related field, or at least five years of experience in a religious school setting.
  • Strong Jewish identity with expertise in Hebrew, Tefillah, and Judaica.
  • Strong managerial and supervisory experience.
  • Experience in educational administration, including budgeting and HR management.
  • Proven ability to create and oversee engaging Judaic curricula. Ability to accommodate and embrace diverse learning styles.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary and Benefits

  • Starting Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 annually commensurate with experience.
  • Full-time position with benefits.
