ABOUT THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER HOUSTON

YAD Associate

The Minette and Jerome Robinson Young Adult Division (YAD) Engagement Associate plays a key role in connecting Jewish young adults (20s–40s) in Houston to Jewish life, community, leadership, and philanthropy. This position supports the development and execution of strategies to move individuals from initial engagement to deeper involvement.

Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of Jewish life, calendar, and culture, and experience creating programs that engage diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across denominations and organizations.

Applicants should be organized, flexible, and detail-oriented team players. Evening and weekend availability is required.

The primary responsibilities for this role will include:

Outreach & Engagement

  • Conduct outreach to individuals new to YAD and/or Houston.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with active participants and volunteer leaders.
  • Manage recruitment and follow-up for YAD events.
  • Develop creative, Jewish-themed engagement strategies.
  • Identify and cultivate emerging young adult leaders.
  • Build and sustain relationships with community partners to encourage collaboration.
  • Coordinate with the Engagement team to build a participant pipeline.
  • Support the broader Federation team by attending events and promoting collaboration.
  • Represent YAD and model Federation values within the Greater Houston Jewish community.

Program Facilitation

  • Support planning and execution of YAD programs and events.
  • Lead ongoing events such as happy hours and volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist with YAD’s bi-annual young leadership development program.
  • Help facilitate a network of local professionals working in Jewish engagement.

Data & Marketing

  • Partner with the marketing team to refine strategies based on audience trends.
  • Create and distribute post-event surveys; compile data for analysis.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on engagement trends and progress.
  • Help develop marketing content including emails, social media posts, and texts.
  • Manage and grow YAD’s social media presence and subscriber base.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in Jewish communal engagement and working with multiple organizations.
  • Natural leader and strong communicator.
  • Creative and innovative approach to engagement strategy.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Growth mindset and collaborative spirit.
  • Ability to work at a desk for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Availability for evening and weekend events is required.
