With over 230 children enrolled in our religious school and over 100 teens engaged in ongoing programming, we are a unique community.

Bet Torah Synagogue: 

Bet Torah is a growing Conservative congregation of over 570 families. We are a welcoming  egalitarian community mindful of inclusion of all individuals, led by inspiring and engaging clergy, a strong professional team and dedicated and talented lay leaders. The creative energy and grass-roots engagement of our members fuels our community spirit as we pray, learn, share lifecycle events, educate our children, socialize, participate in cultural programs and commit to Tikkun Olam.

Our highly successful religious school and youth programs include social, educational and community service programs that engage our younger generation and their families in a variety of ways to increase their Jewish learning and help them to develop their Jewish identities. Our innovative programs include engagement beyond the traditional classroom setting such as family programming, student led shabbat services, social programming for young families, youth and teens. Our robust teen programs include opportunities for leadership development, teacher assistant program, community service activities and trips,social gatherings and teen involvement in Shabbat and Holiday Services. We are affiliated with United Synagogue Youth including programs from fourth to twelfth grade.

Job Description:

Bet Torah is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director of Youth and Education This full-time position is responsible for executing innovative programming with our youth, creating positive Jewish experiences and implementing social and educational programs that uphold our values. This position will collaborate with professional staff, clergy, and lay leaders to implement new programming and drive awareness of programs throughout the community. This position is supervised by the Director of Education.

Responsibilities: 

    • Develop strong relationships with youth, teens and families and the volunteer Board of Education and Youth Chairs
    • Support onsite management of the Religious School in collaboration with the Director
    • Assist with vision and mission setting of all K-12 educational and social programming
    • Serve as lead professional for all youth programming, grades 8-12
    • Responsible for communication and recruitment for all youth events 
    • Plan, execute and staff all major youth events including: Purim Carnival, Youth Shabbat, Midnight Run and others
    • Lead ongoing monthly social activities for multiple age groups
    • Oversee established and thriving youth and teen programs, for example Moving Traditions and weekly educational programs 
    • Supervise and support staff and group facilitators for teen programming 
    • Evaluate programs; collect feedback and implement enhancements in partnership with lay leadership and Director
    • Assist in managing departmental budget
    • Collaborate with senior staff and clergy 

Onsite presence required during the academic year including Religious School on Sunday mornings, Monday and Tuesday afternoons. High Holiday responsibilities required. Evening and weekend events based on a programmatic calendar. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters in Education or Jewish Education preferred.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience preferred (including teaching, camp staff, youth group advisor, Jewish educational programs) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Exceptional ability to communicate, connect with and build relationships with youth, teens, and colleagues.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with parents, volunteers and staff
  • Self-starter, who can work independently and has a drive to do their best
  • Excellent project management and administrative skills; proven experience running programs independently from start to finish
  • Proficiency in social media, database/CRM and Microsoft suite
  • Ability to manage and administer annual department budget with support of Director

Compensation: 

  • $60-$70K Based on Experience
