Position Summary

The Director, Stewardship will be responsible for developing and implementing compelling stewardship strategies that strengthen donor relationships and support BRIF's fundraising goals. This includes creating meaningful experiences, personalized communications, and innovative content that demonstrate the impact of giving and inspire continued generosity. The role will also oversee stewardship opportunities tied to BRIF's Giving Circles and identify new ways to celebrate and engage donors at every level.

Through these life-changing journeys, we strengthen Jewish identity, build community, and foster a lifelong connection to Israel and the Jewish people.

BRIF is seeking a Director, Stewardship to join our passionate team and lead efforts to keep our donors engaged, appreciated, and inspired to continue supporting our mission. This role is ideal for someone who combines creativity with strategic thinking and wants to make a meaningful impact in the Jewish nonprofit world.

  • New York, NY (preferred) or Remote (we are open to exceptional candidates based elsewhere within the U.S.)

  • Chief Marketing Officer

Compensation

  • $100,000-$125,000
  • FLSA: Exempt

Key Responsibilities

  • Donor Stewardship Strategy
    • Design and execute a comprehensive stewardship plan that deepens donor engagement and loyalty.
    • Develop creative, mission-driven experiences and communications that showcase the impact of Birthright Israel trips.
    • Ensure stewardship efforts align with BRIF's fundraising priorities and donor segmentation strategies.
  • Giving Circle Engagement
    • Manage and enhance stewardship opportunities for donors within BRIF's Giving Circles.
    • Create tailored recognition and engagement experiences for each giving level, ensuring donors feel valued and connected.
    • Collaborate with Development Team colleagues to integrate Giving Circle benefits into donor cultivation and retention plans.
  • Content & Experience Development
    • Identify and produce engaging content—such as impact stories, videos, and event materials—that highlight donor impact and participant experiences.
    • Partner with the Development Team and Marketing & Communications colleagues to ensure stewardship materials are visually compelling and on-brand.
    • Plan and execute virtual and in-person experiences (e.g., briefings, behind-the-scenes updates, special events) that bring donors closer to BRIF's mission.
  • Reporting & Communications
    • Oversee reporting and communications with individual donors, including sharing the annual report and programmatic efficacy studies, crafting personalized acknowledgements, and collaborating with the Advancement Team to develop impact reports for major donors.
    • Track and report on stewardship activities and their impact on donor retention and satisfaction.
    • Stay current on best practices in donor stewardship and bring innovative ideas to BRIF.
  • Culture
    • Mentor and guide team members, promoting professional growth and collaboration.
    • Help BRIF reach its highest potential by supporting our efforts to strengthen workplace culture, including a focus on helping to recruit top talent to join the organization.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in donor relations, stewardship, or related fields, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Proven ability to design and implement creative stewardship programs that strengthen donor engagement.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with an eye for creating compelling donor communications.
  • Experience planning and executing donor events (virtual and in-person) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A relationship-builder who understands the importance of donor appreciation and engagement.
