Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility:
The Executive Assistant serves as a key partner to the Head of School, ensuring the seamless functioning of the office while supporting school-wide strategic priorities. Acting as the first point of contact for the Head of School, this individual must be approachable, professional, and discreet, handling sensitive matters with the utmost confidentiality and respect. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage relationships across all levels of the school community and beyond.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Head of School.
- Maintain an approachable and welcoming presence while handling confidential situations with discretion.
- Support the Head of School and senior leadership team on strategic initiatives, including long-term planning, accreditation, advancement projects, and school-wide events.
- Manage the Head of School’s calendar, scheduling, and expenses, with additional support to other members of the administrative team as time permits.
- Oversee agendas, scheduling, and communications for Head of School meetings and Board Meetings.
- Attend Head of School and Board meetings, take minutes, and oversee logistics of the meetings.
- Ensure the Head of School’s office is highly responsive to the needs of the Board, faculty, staff, parents, community partners, and external consultants; monitor follow-up actions to ensure completion.
- Support initiatives that strengthen school culture, including coordinating staff communications, recognition efforts, and events that promote community and morale.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the greater school community
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
- 3 years of related work experience required
- Experience with school environments, supporting a senior administrator, board support, or management of special projects is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
- Knowledge and understanding of Jewish values, culture, and community preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate effectively with various community members such as senior leaders, board members, parents, faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage complex priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation: Bernard Zell offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a supportive workplace culture. The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000.
