Job Summary/Description:

Temple Beth Am (TBAM) in Pinecrest, Florida, the largest reform congregation in the Southeastern United States, is seeking an Administrative Assistant to the Cantor/B’nai Mitzvah Program Coordinator. Temple Beth Am, which also operates the Rambam Day School, and a soon-to-open cultural and activity center, is the premier institution for Jewish life in Miami.

In this role you will provide administrative support to the Senior Cantor while ensuring that the Cantorial office and B’nai Mitzvah program runs efficiently. This position is a full-time non-exempt position and reports to the Executive Director of the Temple.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinates and maintains all administrative work for the Cantor including schedule and calendar management and event scheduling and implementation.
• Handles and prioritizes incoming and outgoing requests, mail, email, and phone calls
• Coordinates classes, study groups, musical ensembles, and management of all the groups that fall under the Cantor’s portfolio.
• Works with the Cantor, clergy, and tutors to coordinate and execute the B’nai Mitzvah Program:
     -> Maintains grade level data and communication lists – updating frequently as students move through the program
     -> Prepares teaching materials & handouts
     -> Assigns clergy and tutors and schedules meetings and rehearsals
     -> Participates and attends special events as assigned (occasional evenings and weekends)

Experience and Qualifications

• 3+ years equivalent work experience required
• Knowledge of the Jewish religion and rituals and familiarity with the Hebrew language strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Constant Contact, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organized and has attention to details.
• Able to work on multiple priority items under pressure with the ability to maintain a positive attitude.
• Must have a professional demeanor, positive and proactive attitude; good judgment and be reliable.
• Has discretion with confidential and sensitive issues.

Clearance Requirements
Level 2 background clearance as defined by the Florida Statutes/law.
