Lead Advocacy, Strategy, and Civic Impact on Behalf of the Jewish Community
The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is seeking a politically astute, mission-driven Vice President of Public Affairs to shape and execute our government relations, advocacy, and public voice. This senior leadership position plays a critical role in strengthening our civic footprint, safeguarding Jewish life, and elevating our organizational influence at the local, state, and national levels particularly in the face of rising antisemitism and challenges to Jewish values.
This position requires strategic insight, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to represent the Jewish community with clarity, authority, and integrity. The VP will serve as the Federation’s lead public affairs strategist and spokesperson, working across political lines and sectors to promote Jewish communal priorities, build partnerships, and advance our public policy agenda.
Role and Impact
The Vice President of Public Affairs will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and a key voice of the Federation in the broader civic landscape. This leader will oversee public affairs strategy, government relations, media engagement, and antisemitism response efforts, driving visibility, advocacy, and coalition-building across sectors.
In close collaboration with internal teams, elected officials, media representatives, and community partners, the VP helps shape public discourse, defend Jewish communal interests, and foster meaningful dialogue around the issues that matter most to Jewish life and security.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Policy Advocacy
- Lead public affairs strategy aligned with Federation’s mission and goals
- Serve as senior advisor to the CEO on legislative and civic matters
- Monitor and respond to local, state, and federal policy issues
- Build relationships with elected officials and government agencies
Combating Antisemitism
- Lead Federation’s response to antisemitism
- Coordinate public statements, briefings, and legislative partnerships
- Partner with law enforcement, educators, and civil society organizations
- Advance prevention, education, and resilience strategies
Media Relations & Public Communications
- Act as lead spokesperson on advocacy, Israel, and community protection
- Develop and manage media strategy across digital, print, and broadcast outlets
- Write and place op-eds, speeches, and rapid-response materials
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national press
Government & Civic Relations
- Cultivate bipartisan relationships with policymakers
- Represent Federation in coalitions and on national advocacy issues
- Lead government funding efforts supporting Federation programs
- Represent Federation in forums, briefings, and interfaith spaces
Community Engagement & Organizational Leadership
- Build bridges across diverse faith, civic, and ethnic communities
- Educate and mobilize community members around advocacy priorities
- Serve on the senior leadership team and supervise relevant staff
- Support campaign messaging and civic-minded donor cultivation
Thrive Here If You Have:
- A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or JD preferred) in political science, law, public policy, communications, or a related field
- 8–10+ years of senior-level experience in public affairs, government relations, or advocacy
- A strong record of influencing public policy and managing high-level media relations
- Expertise in responding to antisemitism and leading public messaging in crisis contexts
- Exceptional writing, speechwriting, and communications skills
- Familiarity with Jewish values, traditions, and current geopolitical issues, including Israel
- Political acumen, sound judgment, and ability to lead across diverse environments
