Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts themselves in accordance with Jewish Orthodox standards (as defined by the Keystone-K).
  • Ensures all foods are properly stored to maintain separation of meat, dairy, and parve production.
  • Oversees food prep, serving, and deliveries to comply with kosher certification standards.
  • Hire, train, and oversee student mashgichim
  • Maintains labeling and color-coding to ensure utensils and equipment are properly identified and used in compliance with kosher certification standards.
  • Inspects specified vegetables for insect infestation in compliance with kosher certification standards.
  • Oversees customer dining areas to ensure kosher integrity of utensils and equipment.
  • Prepares equipment for proper usage during Sabbath and Holidays.
  • Ensures that all cooking is completed one half hour before Sundown on Friday, and all equipment properly adjusted for Sabbath service.
  • Plans an coordinates calendar of events and communicates plans for all Jewish holidays.
  • Performs other supervisory duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must know the laws of kashrut.
  • Must be approved by the Keystone-K
  • Must be well versed in the complexities of Jewish law.
  • Must be familiar with food technology, manufacturing processes, chemistry, new products, ingredients, and other aspects of kosher certification.
  • Applicable culinary experience in a similar volume, quality, and food service establishment.
