JOB TITLE: Engagement Director

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

SUMMARY
The Engagement Director is an integral member of the management team of Jewish Federation and is responsible for outreach to the Jewish community from cradle to mid-life. It is the Engagement Director’s main responsibility to engage them in Jewish life in the community and on campus by creating open, sensitive, and welcoming communities where all who wish to participate will easily find relevant, compelling ways of doing so on an ongoing basis. This is achieved through the development of social, cultural, and educational opportunities for meaningful experiences and leadership development, and by connecting participants to their Jewish community through social action and fundraising.  

NextGen/MiniTribe

· Develop and implement activities and programs to connect and engage young adults (25-45 years) to Jewish life and philanthropy, through Jewish Federation and its affiliate agencies
· Work closely with local organizations and congregations to create partnerships for this population
· Manage a process that identifies, educates, and places young adults into appropriate leadership positions at Jewish Federation and its affiliated agencies
· Promote Jewish learning and knowledge as important elements of leadership, and provide Jewish learning opportunities as part of the Young Leadership development process
· Help participants in Young Leadership gain an understanding of the importance of making a quality gift to the annual campaign, and of working in the campaign as a leader and solicitor
· Manage social media and marketing on behalf of NextGen, promoting goals, programs, and projects
· Recruit participants, and serve as staff, for community delegations to regional, national, and
international Young Leadership conferences and missions
· Work within Jewish Federation and with its affiliate agencies, developing and maintaining active and productive relations and partnerships with community organizations, and affiliate agencies and congregations specifically

· Manage NextGen Board, MiniTribe Committee, including program budgets for both

 

Stockton Hillel
· Serving as the campus Hillel advisor at Stockton University to develop student leadership and
expand the base of Hillel on campus through engagement in Jewish life, developing meaningful and engaging experiences and programs, and providing students with resources to serve as advocates for Israel and Jewish affairs
· Work with Hillel advisory board, faculty, and other student and faith groups on campus to identify and develop donors, resources, and opportunities for partnership that will further the mission of Hillel at Stockton University and the experience of Jewish students on campus
· Develop and mentor student leadership, hold regular meetings of the student board, Hillel advisory board, and interfaith and student council groups. Hire and mentor Graduate Student Intern annually
· Maintain positive and productive relations and communication with Jewish faculty, coordinating recruitment and programmatic efforts with them to reach a broader base and engage students
· Manage the Hillel budget in conjunction with Jewish Federation’s Director of Finance, ensuring that all appropriate records, receipts, etc., are submitted
· Promote Hillel at Stockton University on and off campus, serving as the spokesperson, maintaining visibility both on campus and in the Jewish community


Jewish Federation

· Provide programmatic support for community events: Purim, Yom HaShoah, Israel Celebrations, Annual Meeting, Reverse Tashlich, Hanukkah, Board Meetings, etc.

· Other duties as assigned by Executive Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS | SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software, including Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Familiarity with database management preferred. 
  • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment, e.g., telephones and photocopier. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.  
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the Jewish community, Israel, and the values and traditions of the Jewish people

 

Salary: $50,000+ based on experience
