Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 5th and 6th Grade Math Teacher to join our middle school faculty. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging math lessons aligned with state standards, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, and helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This position reports to the Director of Middle School.

About the School 

Established in 1948 in Mamaroneck, NY, Westchester Day School, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school (2-year-olds through 8th grade), prepares students to live as mensches and lifelong learners and inspires them to impact the world around them by cultivating a commitment to Torah, midot, community and academic rigor. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver effective daily math lessons aligned with district and state standards.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate different learning needs.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain a positive, organized, and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Incorporate technology and real-world applications into math instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
  • Uphold school policies, values, and behavioral expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certification for middle school mathematics.
  • Prior teaching experience at the middle school level preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Ability to engage and motivate young adolescents in the learning process.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and learning platforms.

Salary range for this role is $75,000- $85,000, depending upon education and experience.
