Adath Israel is a welcoming and inclusive Conservative Jewish synagogue in Merion Station, PA, where members feel connected to each other, to their heritage, and to the broader Jewish community. Adath Israel has become an epicenter of Jewish life on the Main Line for people at all levels of Jewish observance and is a nurturing learning environment for all ages. Our programatic calendar is full of events, classes, groups, and more. We are looking to engage a Communications Associate, part-time with partial remote work, to join our energetic, hard-working, fun-loving, spirited team! 

This position requires excellent communication skills, and an understanding of programming, event planning, marketing strategies, social media channels, and web site content creation. Must be independent, creative, friendly, patient, flexible and self-driven, and must enjoy working collaboratively. Reports directly to the executive director and will work with clergy, staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Communication:

  • Develop and implement promotional strategies for major events, and community-wide initiatives.
  • Ensure a consistent and compelling brand identity across all platforms, materials, and messaging.
  • Ensure all content reflects the organization’s voice, values, and messaging.
  • Work collaboratively with executive director, vice president of programming, clergy, staff, and volunteers.
  • Maintain internal and external programmatic calendar and set up requirements.

Digital Marketing:

  • Serve as webmaster, maintaining an up-to-date, engaging, and user-friendly website and website calendar that serves as a resource for members and prospective members.
  • Manage all social media accounts, creating and curating compelling content that fosters community connection, engagement, and is on-trend.
  • Develop email campaigns and weekly e-newsletters, crafting engaging messages that inform and inspire action.
  • Design visually compelling graphics, flyers, banners, and promotional materials, ensuring brand consistency across all digital and print assets.
  • Use design tools like Canva or similar to create visual assets for marketing materials, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Write and distribute weekly email newsletters and special announcements.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content creation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas.
  • Experience with event planning, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proficiency in marketing software and tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEO, and email marketing platforms, Canva).
  • Experience with database content, registration forms in systems such as ShulCloud.
  • Bachelor’s degree/or 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and practices is helpful but not required.


Work Hours & Flexibility

This part-time role offers a flexible and dynamic work environment, recognizing that programming engagement often extends beyond traditional office hours. This position requires in-office presence on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 9 AM – 4 PM, with flexible hours the rest of the week, working remotely and on-site as needed based on the programming calendar. Some evening and weekend availability will be required to support key events and community gatherings.
