Senior Manager of Development Operations

For over 54 years, The Ark has been the only organization providing free, comprehensive human services to Chicagoland’s large and diverse Jewish community. Our talented team of professionals works closely with Jewish individuals and families facing financial vulnerability to provide a wide array of vital services to help them take steps forward on their unique journey toward self-reliance. The Ark is funded almost entirely through philanthropy, and the Development team plays a critical role in the organization’s success and sustainability.

The Ark is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Development Operations to lead data strategy, day-to-day operations, and reporting and analytics for our Development program. This role will play a critical part in supporting the Ark’s $8.5 million annual fundraising campaign and ongoing major and planned giving efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Senior Manager of Development Operations will lead the development and implementation of key processes and systems, manage donor data, and lead reporting and analytics efforts. This person will supervise the Manager of Donor Relations and the Development Assistant to ensure seamless operations and best-in-class donor experiences.

Specific Responsibilities

• Development Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day development operations, including gift entry and acknowledgment, and donor data management.
• Supervision and Leadership: Directly supervise the Manager of Donor Relations and Development Assistant, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• CRM Management: Manage the Salesforce donor CRM in collaboration with The Ark’s Salesforce Administrator and Data and Planning team, ensuring that donor data is structured, collected, and managed in ways that allow for accurate record-keeping and robust reporting.
• Reporting and Analytics: Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support fundraising strategies and measure progress.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and implement best practices to optimize development workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with development colleagues and staff in other departments, including finance, data and planning, marketing, and volunteers, to ensure smooth coordination of fundraising operations with other key internal partners.

Work Requirements and Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of experience in a data or operations role within a high-performing development team.
• Experience working at a high level a donor CRM platform; Salesforce experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
