Role Overview

Brandeis Hillel seeks a Community Building Associate who is a natural relationship-builder with a love for Judaism, and who will bring energy and creativity to their work with Jewish life on campus. 

This position will focus on building personal relationships with students by meeting them where they are, and making Judaism accessible and relevant to students of all backgrounds, and helping them connect with their peers. This may include students who are engaged in activities outside of the Jewish community, like athletes and students in fraternities and sororities, or students holding diverse identities such as Jews of Color, LGBTQIA+ Jews, or Jews with disabilities.

As Community Building Associate, you'll also help us maintain a strong communications strategy so that students know what’s happening on campus, and where to find those resources via weekly emails, social media, etc. Whether it’s a poster or a video for an Instagram post, we want to tell the story of Jewish life in a way that invites people to connect to our community.

What You’ll Do

  • Build 180 meaningful relationships with students who are under or unengaged with Jewish life at Brandeis. This will include:
    • 1:1 coffee conversations
    • Co-facilitating two cohorts of the Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF)
    • Networking with students by attending important campus-wide events (e.g., sporting events) and establishing a presence on campus 
    • Developing relationships with key university partners to extend our network and visibility to students
    • Collaborating with our professional team in major community moments, such as Shabbat dinners, the Yom Kippur Break Fast,the First Year Retreat and our signature Purim “Breakfast Club”
    • Strategic attendance of affiliate group events (e.g., Sharsheret Cake Wars; Manginah semester show)
    • Staff at least one Birthright trip or other immersive travel experience each year
  • Maintain social media presence in collaboration with staff and student leaders, and monitor important campus social media accounts
  • Build weekly emails and ensure that our calendar is up to date so that students can access important opportunities
  • Track student participation data in HEART

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • Passion for Jews and Judaism, and an excitement about building relationships with young adults in a diverse, pluralistic setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Background in communications, marketing, development, or related field
  • Excellent follow-through on projects and to multitask
  • Strong administrative skills (e.g., Google Suite, Salesforce, Canva, Squarespace)
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

What You’ll Receive

Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The salary range for this position is $42,000 - $45,000
