Description
The camp Social Worker is responsible for monitoring the emotional health of campers and counselors throughout the summer camping season, through milieu based work, small group and individual intervention.
 
Daily interaction with campers and staff which includes being present at meals and other camp-wide activities, as well as meeting with specific bunks, or smaller groups of children and/or counselors to address mental health needs, crisis management, and group dynamics.
 
Interaction with, and support for parents, including, but not limited to, addressing camper behavior, managing mental health needs, and dealing with home-sickness. Supporting unit supervisors and others in their interaction with parents.
 
Teach, practice and help implement conflict resolution skills for campers and counselors.
 
Attend all appropriate staff meetings.
 
Provide appropriate documentation of interactions with campers, parents and staff.
 
 
 
Must be licensed or certified to practice in NY State.
 
Must have a desire and willingness to work with children, adolescents and staff in a residential sleep away camp
 
Must be available for full time work from June 18 to August 19 and for periodic training and staff meetings in the Spring of 2024.
 
The ideal candidate will have either clinical or non-clinical experience working with children aged 6-16, and sleep away or day camp experience. Camp offers an immersive experience in which you'll play, eat, and spend the entire day with young people.
 
Clinical supervision and clinical hours toward Social Work Certification
 
Two hours off per day
 
One Day off per week
