Positions: Part-Time Faculty in K-7 Learning and Hebrew Programs
Temple Beth Elohim, a vibrant Reform congregation in Wellesley, MA, is currently accepting applications for teaching and senior madrichim positions in its BaDerech (K-5), B’Yachad (6-7), and Hebrew (4-6) programs.
For our BaDerech (K-5) program, we are seeking:
- K-Grade 3 Classroom Teachers (starting at $50.00, will increase based on experience)
- Grades 4-5 Classroom Teachers (starting at $50.00, will increase based on experience)
- K- Grade 5 Senior Madrichim (starting at $31.00 per hour, will increase based on experience)
Ideal candidates should have experience working with kids in this age cohort from religious school, summer camp, classroom, tutoring, babysitting, etc.
Classes meet Sunday mornings (8:45 am-10:45 am and 11:15 am-1:15 pm), Tuesday afternoons (3:45 pm-5:45 pm), or Wednesday afternoons (4:00 pm-6:00 pm). Potential candidates could work either Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or all of the above.
For our B’Yachad (6-7th grade) program, we are seeking:
- Lead teachers who will be comfortable facilitating an interactive, multidisciplinary curriculum that includes both formal and informal learning (starting at $50.00, will increase based on experience).
Ideal candidates should have recent classroom teaching experience and/or religious school, summer camp, etc. experience (preferably with middle school-age students). Positions are open on Sunday from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Potential candidates could work either Sunday, Wednesday, or both.
For our Hebrew (4-6th grade) program, we are seeking:
- Skilled Hebrew instructors (starting at $56.50 per hour, will increase based on experience)
- For 4th grade, our curriculum largely focuses on learning the vowels and the alef-bet to help our students learn how to decode
- For 5th and 6th grades, our curriculum largely focuses on prayers and helping students prepare for B’Mitzvah.
- Skilled Hebrew Senior Madrichim (starting at $41.00 per hour, will increase based on experience)
Ideal candidates should have experience teaching Hebrew in a classroom or tutoring environment. Modern Hebrew fluency is not a requirement but is appreciated. Positions are open for in-person teaching on Sundays (10:00-10:45 am, 11:15 am-12:00 pm, and 1:30-2:15 pm), Wednesdays (3:15-4:00 pm), and virtual teaching throughout the week (Sunday-Thursday). Potential candidates could work any or all of the in-person or virtual classes outlined above.
