About Us

Temple Sinai of Glendale is a Reform congregation serving the spiritual needs of Jewish residents in Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, and the Foothills for nearly a century. Our progressive and welcoming community comprises over 200 families who embrace diversity and warmly welcome strongly identified Jews, interfaith couples, Jews by choice, and those just beginning to explore their Jewish identities. 

 

Our Religious School seeks to nurture a commitment to Judaism through hands-on experiences, Jewish practices, and Torah study. We provide a foundation of Jewish literacy, embrace our different connections to God through prayer, and strengthen the religious and ethical choices of our students based on knowledge of Jewish values, traditions, and history.

 

Job Summary

Temple Sinai of Glendale is seeking a dynamic, innovative leader to run the Robert Seiden School of Education and oversee youth engagement and programming. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities shall include, but not limited to the following areas:

  • Hiring, supervision, and evaluation of Religious School teachers
  • Recruit and supervise high school-aged Teacher Assistants
  • Competency in Hebrew and tefillah
  • Curriculum development and resource management 
  • Regular communication with Religious School families and teachers
  • Maintain school calendar and oversight of the budget
  • Collaborate with clergy and staff on holiday programming and special events
  • Carry on the strategic vision and future of the Robert Seiden School of Education 

 

Education and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Jewish Education strongly preferred.
  • Previous teaching and supervisory experience necessary. 
  • Proficient in Jewish history, literature, and biblical texts. 
  • Possess strong technological skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Warm and engaging with a passion for Jewish education. 

 

Compensation

This is a part-time position starting at 20 hours/week with schedule flexibility and the opportunity for more hours with additional responsibilities. Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications. We are committed to finding the best candidate to take on this pivotal role within our Temple community.
