Congregation Olam Tikvah (OT) in Fairfax, VA, a welcoming USCJ-affiliated community of over 630 families, is in search for our next Preschool Director. The Olam Tikvah Preschool (OTPS) offers a preschool experience for children ages two to five. OTPS provides a wide variety of learning experiences that enhance the emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development of each child. Our curriculum utilizes a play-based philosophy, with a hands-on program of learning that is nurturing and enjoyable for the child, parent, and teacher.

OTPS seeks a Preschool Director (approx.30 hours/week) to help strengthen and grow our educational program and experiences for our youngest learners and their families. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of OTPS’ school-year and summer camp programs
  • Update and manage curriculum and overall educational philosophy
  • Recruit, supervise and evaluate teaching staff
  • Oversee program growth, recruitment of new families and retention of current families
  • Ensure compliance with all state licensing requirements (OTPS is currently a religiously exempt program)
  • Develop, manage and maintain the annual budget and finances
  • Work in collaboration with the OTPS parent leadership with coordination and implementation of fundraising plans, family programming, holiday celebrations, etc.
  • Work in active partnership with staff and leaders of the larger congregation
  • Facilitate weekly Baby and Me Program
  • Attend monthly meetings of the Early Childhood Directors Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in early childhood education
  • Possess strong knowledge of emergent curriculum programs
  • Have a strong love of children and desire to help them discover, understand and flourish in the world we inhabit.
  • Basic Judaic knowledge
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative personality, able to work seamlessly with teachers, synagogue staff and parents
  • Excellent organization, time management and communication skills with the flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • Ability to manage budgets
Salary55,000.00 Annual
