Program and Events Manager

Shaarei Tikvah is excited to welcome a full-time Program and Events Manager. In partnership with the Executive Director, Director of Congregational Learning, and several committees, the Program and Events Manager will help to create a synagogue culture where all of our members feel known and see their place in our community. The Program and Events Manager will play an important role in building synagogue community by cultivating partnerships with members, clergy, and lay leaders. Key responsibilities include coordinating adult programming such as scholar-in-residence, film series, and speakers; being present at our monthly Shabbat Nashira and community dinner; supporting membership & fundraising events; coordinating b’nei mitzvah ceremonies and kiddushes. The Program and Events Manager will also work closely with the office staff to create effective communications, advertising important events and providing members with up to date information about synagogue happenings. 

We are a progressive, engaged Conservative synagogue in Scarsdale, NY. Our community of 300 families has grown tremendously in the past two years. We’ve been described as Westchester’s “hidden gem,” and we expect our growth will continue. Maintaining our culture of connection and hamish feel is important as we expand, and this role will play a key role in supporting our membership.

This is an on-site, full time position that will begin on or about August 1, 2024.

Job Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the design and execution of key social, chesed, and development events throughout the year in order to strengthen our culture of belonging
  • Serving as a point-person for b’nei mitzvah families, acting as a liaison between families and clergy
  • Working with our in-house caterer and outside vendors to organize synagogue events
  • Overseeing all marketing channels, including weekly and semi-annual newsletters, website, flyers, and social media
  • Working closely with lay leadership and senior staff on High Holiday and Shabbat programming
  • Regular attendance at key synagogue events

Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • 3+ years of experience in Jewish programming and/or development
  • Understanding of CRM principles; experience with ShulCloud a “plus”
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or  other graphics software
  • Mastery of Google Workplace & MS Office Suite

Salary $65,000-70,000 per year + health insurance, retirement contribution and other benefits including paid vacation and sick days, parental leave, and synagogue membership.
