Job Title: Part-Time Administrative Assistant Organization: Congregation B’nai Yisrael Location: Armonk, NY Hours: 18–20 hours per week Reports to: Executive Director
Congregation B’nai Yisrael is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of our synagogue. This individual will be an integral part of our community, helping to manage communications, scheduling, and general administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is proficient in the Google Workspace platform, has strong communication skills, and is familiar with Canva or similar design tools.
Provide general administrative support to clergy, staff, and lay leadership
Manage email correspondence, phone calls, and general inquiries
Maintain and update calendars, schedules, and synagogue events
Create visually appealing flyers, newsletters, and event promotions using Canva or similar platforms
Prepare weekly email communications and assist with website updates
Support preparation and logistics for events, programs, and services
Maintain organized digital filing systems using Google Drive
Assist with membership communications and database updates
Perform other office-related tasks as assigned
Prior administrative or office experience preferred
Proficient in Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive)
Experience using Canva or similar design tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a small team
Sensitivity to the needs and values of a Jewish congregational setting
18–20 hours per week
Flexible hours
Occasional evening or weekend availability may be requested for special events
