Position Summary:

The mission of the Schechter Holocaust Services (SHS) program is to support survivors' ability to live at home and connect with community. The program provides comprehensive assistance to aging victims of Nazi persecution and their families.  A majority of survivors served by JF&CS are Russian speaking. 

Our Case Coordinator's work will involve both administrative and case management responsibilities. The Case Coordinator will have administrative responsibilities that include maintaining the record keeping and grant requirements that ensure JF&CS compliance with Claims Conference regulations and procedures. This involves working with two software applications, interfacing with the Fiscal department, and supporting the administrative work of case managers. Additionally, they will handle inquiries and new client intake requiring gathering of information and documentation. The Case Coordinator will also help advocate and assist supporting the needs of clients in obtaining homecare and financial assistance.  They will participate as appropriate in social programming activities.

The Case Coordinator will work effectively as part of the Holocaust Services team. Relationships will be developed with community organizations and with providers of services to Holocaust survivors.  They will work from the Waltham office with some home and community visits.

 This is a full-time position of 36.25 hours/week.

Your workday will include administrative (25%) and client focused activities (75%):


  • Data input and management using software applications specific to work with the population
  • Processing and monitoring the accuracy of financial invoices
  • Overseeing the ordering, distribution and tracking of food store gift cards.
  • Preparing financial information and charts.
  • Participating in SHS staff meetings, JF&CS trainings and represent the organization at external events.

Client focused:

  • Talking with current and potential clients by phone or walk-in. Taking information from client or family to determine eligibility and need.
  • Using knowledge of entitlement programs and benefits to help ensure clients have access to services for which they are eligible.
  • Providing information and referral within and outside of JF&CS
  • Interfacing with home care and other aging service providers
  • Checking in with clients to ensure their needs are being met
  • Assisting at social group events.

What the Case Coordinator brings to the position and team:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred but not required
  • Computer and analytical skills; experience learning and using new software
  • Bilingual in written and spoken Russian
  • Demonstrated track record for flexibility in prioritizing time management
  • Self-initiated and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of community resources and benefits a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to be effective with consumers
  • Detail orientation
  • A sense of humor
  • Access to a car and safe driving record
