The B’nai Torah Early Childhood Education Director shall be responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of all early childhood programs including the B’nai Torah Preschool, B’nai Torah preschool camp, ECHAD early childhood synagogue-wide family programming, and B’nai Babies program.

B’nai Torah Preschool Responsibilities:

  • Seamless integration of the Judaic and secular child-centered curriculum.
  • Enhancement and maintenance of strong relationships with teachers, students, and families.
  • Recruitment, supervision, mentoring, professional development, and evaluation of teachers.
  • Recruitment of families for enrollment, including giving tours and working with communications staff to develop marketing and promotion plans using social and other media.
  • Coordination with Rabbi and Director of Lifelong Learning, and other B’nai Torah staff, to ensure that preschool operations are consistent with B’nai Torah religious values and strategic goals.
  • Retaining families through community building efforts.
  • Facilitating proactive communication with parents, and supporting the work of the preschool PTA committee
  • Oversight of the preschool budget.
  • Development of the school calendar.
  • Coordinating and managing classroom space usage
  • Managing compliance with “Bright from the Start” and any other regulatory requirements, accreditation, and certifications.

B’nai Torah Preschool Camp Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and supervision of staff.
  • Enhancement and maintenance of strong relationships with teachers, students, and families.
  • Coordination with Rabbi and Director of Lifelong Learning, and other B’nai Torah staff, to ensure that preschool camp operations are consistent with B’nai Torah religious values and strategic goals.
  • Retaining families through community building efforts.
  • Oversight of the camp budget
  • Coordinating and managing classroom space usage

ECHAD and Other Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementing approximately 8 annual ECHAD programs (for families with children 0-5), with the assistance of Rabbi and Director of Lifelong Learning and other B’nai Torah staff.
  • Partnering with B’nai Torah staff to implement the early childhood component of major synagogue events including Purim, Simchat Torah, Hannukah and other festivals.
  • Overseeing monthly B’nai Babies programs for mothers with children under 18 months.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Possesses a degree in the field of Early Childhood Education or related field
  • At least 3 years teaching and experience in a supervisory position. 
  • Is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and has robust administrative skills
  • Has strong leadership abilities
  • Demonstrates friendliness and personability to families and students
  • Cares deeply for the educational growth of students
  • Is passionate about the values and rituals of Judaism
  • Can work collaboratively and as part of a team.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Feels comfortable with technology and word processing

About B’nai Torah Preschool: B'nai Torah Preschool strives to provide a warm, safe, engaging environment, where every child feels accepted, respected, encouraged, and loved. It is open to children ranging from 1 year-old through Pre-K. We offer half-day (9:00 AM - 1:15 PM) and full-day (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM) options for all age groups, including an early drop off from 8:00 AM-9:00 AM). Currently, we have 50 students with a goal of 75 over the next several years. Most of our families are also members of Congregation B’nai Torah.
