Description

Temple Kol Emeth (TKE), a Reform Jewish congregation in suburban Atlanta, is seeking an energetic, creative, and detail-oriented professional to serve as our part-time Communications Associate.

TKE is a welcoming, multigenerational community of 330+ families. Our mission is to foster connection, meaning, and engagement through Jewish values, learning, and celebration. To learn more about who we are, visit our website.

About the Role

We are looking for someone to help us tell our story in consistent and compelling ways across print and digital platforms. The Communications Associate will work closely with senior staff to implement communications strategies that promote synagogue events, strengthen member engagement, and enhance our public presence.

This role is about more than posting online, it’s about helping us shape how our community is seen, heard, and understood. While the overall communications strategy is set by staff leadership, we are looking for someone who can bring creativity and attention to detail in how we execute that strategy through engaging emails, compelling visuals, and a stronger social media presence. The ideal candidate will be proactive in suggesting content ideas, experimenting with formats like video or stories, and finding new ways to highlight the energy of TKE’s events and community life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule TKE’s weekly email newsletter (Tekiah) in ShulCloud
  • Design event graphics and flyers for both digital and print use
  • Manage the synagogue’s social media presence (primarily Facebook and Instagram)
  • Curate or draft content for posts and stories, with an eye toward audience engagement
  • Maintain consistent branding, tone, and visual identity across platforms
  • Collaborate with clergy and staff to develop communications that reflect synagogue values and programming priorities
  • Support updates to the synagogue website as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated skills in communications, marketing, and/or digital media—gained through professional roles, academic work, internships, and/or volunteer experience
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience with email marketing platforms and social media tools
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Express
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • Understanding of Jewish culture or synagogue life
  • Experience with platforms like ShulCloud, Meta Business Suite, or Trello
  • An eye for visual storytelling, including photography or video creation
  • Knowledge of engagement metrics and how to use them to refine communications

Logistics

  • Hours: 10–20 hours/week
  • Schedule: Must be available Tuesdays from 10:00am–2:00pm in the office; remaining hours are flexible and can be remote or in person
  • Compensation: $20/hour
