Dor L’Dor Group Leader

At The Cohen Camps, we strongly believe that direct experience of Israel—the opportunity to create a personal relationship with the people, land and culture—is integral to the way each person develops their Jewish identity, values and character.

The Dor L’Dor Israel Program is the capstone of the camper experience and guides our oldest campers through Israel. For many this is their very first time traveling in Israel or in a group. Teens from all three Cohen Camps—Pembroke, Tel Noar, and Tevya—join up for an intensive 4.5 weeks in Israel, a trip that is physically, spiritually, and intellectually stimulating. After their time in Israel, our teens return to their own camp for reflection, reconnection, and to share their experience with younger campers.

Who are you?

You are someone who has a strong and solid Jewish Identity including a love for Israel. You want to share your enthusiasm with teens as they explore their own Jewish identities. You welcome working in a team and collaborating with staff from our camps and our Israeli partner.

What you will bring to this position:

  • Desire to lead teens in a “camp” environment in a foreign country
  • Ability to multi-task and create a positive environment
  • Experience working with children or teens in an informal educational setting
  • Two years of experience as a camp counselor preferred

What you will do in this position:

  • Take daily responsibility and accountability to ensure the safety and security of Dor L’Dor teens while traveling in Israel and back at camp

  • Adhere to Dor L’Dor standards and policies
  • Communicate daily with Dor L’Dor leadership to share pertinent information

How you will be successful in this position:

  • Engage with enthusiasm and fully support the overall educational goals
  • Maintain the health and safety of Dor L’Dor teens, including basic medical oversight, teen self-care, and social interactions among the group
  • Exercise excellent communication and organization skills
  • Mentor and cheerlead teens, with a focus on inclusivity, positivity, and supportive environments

General Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience as member of the Cohen Camp staff a plus, and not required

  • Experience working with teens in an informal learning environment
  • Prior experience in the Jewish community through camp or youth groups
  • Attend pre-trip training online and in-person
