TITLE: Development Associate

REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

The JELF Development Assistant is a new role that will provide direct support for all development functions.  This position will work with the Chief Development Officer, CEO and Resource Development Committee in the execution of annual fundraising including campaigns, events, donor research and cultivation, database management, grant research and writing and committee involvement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  

  • Serves as an integral member of JELF’s development team by providing direct support for all development functions 
  • Assists the Chief Development Officer and CEO with the execution of the annual campaign ensuring all goals are achieved
  • Analyzes data from past and current campaigns to identify trends and opportunities for continued campaign expansion
  • Research potential donors with an emphasis on identifying new prospects and assisting with expanding the donor pool
  • Serves as key manager of JELF’s fundraising events, assists with planning and coordinating JELF’s development committee meetings and all other development-related events and activities
  • Prepares invoices and manage outstanding pledges
  • Processes donations and generates acknowledgement letters
  • Research potential charitable foundations worth pursuing who have alignment with JELF’s mission and help draft initial grants.
  • Assists with the development of all marketing efforts for JELF’s fundraising campaigns in conjunction with the Chief Development Officer and media coordinator
  • Collaborates with JELF staff on various projects and serve as key development project manager
  • Serve as an ambassador of the organization to JELF’s individual, corporate and foundation prospects and donors

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Three+ years’ experience with business, fund development, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Comprehensive understanding of non-profit development best practices
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and CRMs
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently
  • Available to work weekends and evenings on occasion
