ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

As a center for Jewish philanthropy, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation) mobilizes assets to support the most pressing issues of our time, while building and sustaining thriving Jewish communities in the Bay Area, Israel and beyond for generations to come. We inspire personal and collaborative philanthropy, and facilitate grantmaking, impact lending, and advocacy to make the world a better place.

With our work guided by Jewish values, the Federation operates as a community foundation, partnering with individuals and families to implement their charitable visions as well as to connect and strengthen the Jewish non-profit sector. In 2022, the Federation granted and loaned more than $245 million, making it the single largest funder of Jewish causes in the state of California.

The Federation is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement.

 

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Marketing, Brand and Content Strategy to join our team. This role will be pivotal in crafting and conveying our brand story, developing, and executing content strategies, and creating compelling written content that resonates with our audience. The ideal candidate is a master storyteller with a strategic mindset and a passion for branding. The role encompasses both leading our overall content strategy in collaboration with other functions within the organization as well as hands on contributions in form of writing, editing, etc. A brand warrior with campaign development experience is preferred. The role reports to the Manager Director, Marketing.

 

We currently work in a hybrid environment with the expectation of being in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Brand Storytelling:

  • Develop and articulate the brand's story, ensuring consistency across all marketing channels.
  • Craft narratives that connect emotionally with our target audience and reinforce our brand values and mission.
  • Oversee the implementation of brand guidelines and ensure all content aligns with the brand voice and tone.

Content and Communications Strategy:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive content strategy that supports overall marketing goals.
  • Identify key content themes and topics that will engage our audience and drive brand awareness.
  • Plan and manage brand/content strategy across content calendars, ensuring creation and delivery of high-quality strategic content across all platforms.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal cross-functional partners to understand the organization's services and offerings. Manage relationship and serve as strategic partner and liaison between marketing and internal clients/ partners.
  • Communicate the brand vision and strategy to stakeholders and ensure it is understood and embraced across the organization.
  • Develop a strategic and balanced content strategy that highlights organizational priorities.
  • Facilitate effective communication and alignment between marketing and other departments to ensure cohesive messaging.

Content Creation and Writing:

  • Produce engaging and high-quality content, including emails, blog posts, op-eds, social media, reports, and more.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to develop a content strategy and campaign strategy that supports their needs and goals.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and tone across all written materials.

Performance Measurement:

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of content and branding efforts.
  • Analyze content performance data and use insights to optimize future content strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Understanding of Jewish community and Jewish values, previous experience working at Jewish organization is strongly preferred.
  • Experience Marketing in non-profit industry.
  • Experience working in marketing and communication team for organizations that respond to emergencies, political events, culturally sensitive issues.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful brand and content strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet objectives and performance standards.
  • Exhibits a growth and learning mindset.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in marketing, with a focus on brand storytelling, content and communication strategy, and writing.
  • Degree in Jewish Studies or related field a plus.
