This position is for the 2024-2025 School Year

Job Summary

To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for lower elementary grade education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members; to assist in school programs subject to the SSDS Mission which states:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: 

 

A. Assists the teacher and students with the seamless operation of classroom routines and procedures. 

B. Monitors student behavior and intervenes in a positive manner before behaviors escalate.

C. Responds to a student’s misbehavior in a way that is sensitive to individual student needs. 

D. Interacts with students and in a highly respectful manner, reflecting genuine warmth and caring toward individuals.

E. Demonstrates a strong ability to communicate ideas, opinions, and instructions to others. This includes clear reinforcement of expectations for learning, directions and procedures, and explanations of content. 

F. Collaborates with the educational team in meeting students’ needs by giving suggestions on how to adapt lesson plans specific to the struggling students. 

G. Is highly responsive to students’ needs, taking the initiative to collaborate with the classroom teacher when major lesson adjustments are needed. 

H. Works with the teacher and students to ensure optimal learning. 

I. Facilitates students’ self-monitoring and self-assessment of their own learning.

J. Provides students and teachers with high-quality feedback from a variety of sources.  

K. Maintains professional competence through in-service and professional growth activities.

L. Collaborates with grade-level colleagues about curriculum and educational programming.

M. Provides direct instruction as directed by the classroom teacher.

N. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day. 

O. Demonstrates a commitment to best practice in all dimensions of effective teaching as defined by the Thoughtful Classroom framework, including: Organization, rules and routines; positive relationships; engagement and enjoyment; a culture of thinking and learning; preparing students for new learning; presenting new learning; deepening and reinforcing learning; applying learning; and reflecting on and celebrating learning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university 

Salary42,000.00 - 47,000.00 Annual
