Hebrew / Religious School Teacher

We are looking to hire a teacher for our after-school Hebrew and Religious School program. Our program meets once a week on Mondays, Septermber through May only. Teachers must be available every Monday 3:45-6pm and 2-3 Friday night Shabbat services annually. Our class schedule follows the Long Beach public school calendar.

Responsibilities include:

• Instruction and Curriculum:
  • Developing and implementing age-appropriate Hebrew language lessons, including reading, writing, and speaking skills. 
  • Teaching Jewish cultural and religious concepts, such as Jewish holidays, customs, and texts. 
  • Adapting lesson plans to meet the diverse learning needs of students. ??
• Classroom Management:
  • Creating a positive and engaging learning environment. 
  • Maintaining a safe and supportive classroom. 
  • Motivating students and fostering their love of learning. ??
• Assessment and Feedback:
  • Evaluating student progress and providing constructive feedback. 
  • Grading assignments.??
• Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicating with parents and guardians about student progress and any concerns. 
  • Collaborating with other teachers and staff members to support student learning. ??

Qualifications:

• Education and Training:
  • A bachelor's degree in education or a related field is often preferred. 
  • Teaching license or certification may be required. 
• Experience:
  • Prior experience teaching Hebrew or related subjects is valuable. 
• Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in the Hebrew language. 
  • Strong teaching and communication skills. 
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons. 
  • Passion for Jewish education and a commitment to fostering student growth.
