Organization Overview  

The Jewish Community Foundation of the West (JCFW) is a dynamic, inclusive organization committed to fostering Jewish culture, education, and community engagement. We focus on strengthening community connections, promoting Jewish values, supporting charitable initiatives, and expanding outreach to diverse populations.

Position Summary  

The Communications and Engagement Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans, engaging with local Jewish organizations, and promoting the foundation’s programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate is proactive, passionate about Jewish communal work, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a solid understanding of philanthropy and nonprofit operations.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

Content Creation & Communication Skills  

- Produce clear, concise, and compelling content for various platforms, demonstrating strong writing and editing skills.  

- Conduct research to gather reliable information and craft accurate, engaging narratives about community needs, program impacts, and Jewish issues.  

- Write for digital media, including email newsletters, online formats, and community publications; familiar with content management systems.  

- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with internal teams.  

- Experience in grant writing and donor-facing materials is highly advantageous.  

Knowledge of Jewish Community & Philanthropy  

- Deep understanding and appreciation of Jewish culture, traditions, and community dynamics.  

- Knowledge of community priorities such as education, senior services, and Israel advocacy.  

- Familiarity with nonprofit foundation operations, including donor relations, stewardship, and fundraising communications.  

- Ability to craft stories rooted in Jewish values that inspire charitable giving and demonstrate philanthropy’s impact.  

Soft Skills  

- Collaborative, diplomatic, and able to work well across teams in the organization.

- Attentive to detail, ensuring accuracy and professionalism in all communications.  

- Genuine passion for Jewish communal work and social impact.  

Educational & Professional Background  

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-Profit, or related field preferred.  

- 5 to 7 years of experience in communications, outreach, or community engagement, preferably within nonprofit settings.  

- Proven ability to research content and AI integration.

- Proficiency with various communications management tools and platforms.
