High Holy Day Choir Director

WHO WE ARE Over 100 years old, Oak Park Temple is a thriving congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. Oak Park Temple is a welcoming and vibrant Jewish home to 540 families in the near western suburbs of Chicago. We have a unique and eclectic music culture year-round which is represented on a large scale during our High Holy days.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION - Conduct, direct, prepare, and accompany* choir (a mix of 12 professionals and volunteer singers) for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur evening, morning, and afternoon services. Work closely with Cantor on music selection and on solo repertoire sung by Cantor. Be available for evening and morning services on Rosh HaShanah (October 2-3, 2024) and evening, morning, and late afternoon services on Yom Kippur (October 11-12, 2024).  Attend and direct 3 rehearsals with choir, or more as needed. Rehearse with Cantor 1-1 as needed.

DATES Consulting and discussing repertoire typically begins in the summer, rehearsals typically begin 1 m.before Rosh HaShanah with one in between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, work concludes at the end of Yom Kippur
