Congregation Ner Tamid seeks Religious School Director

CNT, a Reform Synagogue located in Henderson, Nevada, is seeking a dynamic and engaging Religious School Director.

The director would be expected to be present during Religious School; Sunday mornings from    9 am-12 pm and Tuesday evenings, 4 pm-5:30 pm (currently Tuesdays are held virtually). The director would also be excited to be present at least one hour prior to school starting on both days, and staying after for youth group events, parent questions, and staff meetings up to 90 minutes after school is dismissed. In addition, there are "behind-the scenes'' preparation and planning hours which have flexibility as to the exact schedule, as well as staff meetings with the CNT staff. The position is salaried, with the expectation of approximately 25 hours a week of work.

Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Directs and manages and leads the staff of the Religious School, including providing them with detailed curriculum, guidance, and staff building
  • Creates a community-wide learning environment that can sustain a vibrant congregation through intellectual growth, spiritual awareness, and social responsibility
  • Establishes and maintains a culture of Jewish learning that is innovative, inclusive, relevant, and consistent with the approaches and values of the Union for Reform Judaism & Congregation Ner Tamid
  • Supervises and runs all school programming, such as the opening and closing events, family learning days, mitzvah days, Purim Carnival, and more.
  • Incorporates new and emerging directions in education generally and Jewish education specifically. 
  • Builds upon our current curriculum and continues to develop and implement it as an innovative curriculum strongly grounded in Jewish pedagogy that empowers students and nurtures their enthusiasm for learning.
  • Attends synagogue wide functions with a family focus, such as Shir Shabbat Family Shabbat Services, Tot Shabbats, and Shabbats in the Round.
  • Works with the Executive Director and lay leadership to draft the annual religious school budget.



  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master of Arts in Jewish Education or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in teaching or leadership of Religious School or Religious School Programs or equivalent experience
  • Supervisory experience in a school setting or working with youth
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Availability to be physically present while Religious School is in session, at synagogue-wide and special events (including some nights and weekends), and accompany students on overnight field trips including some out-of-state travel


Part-time position $25,000- $30,000 annually
