Who We Are:

Moishe (pronounced moy-shuh) House is what being Jewish in your 20s is all about. Launched in 2006 when four friends began hosting Shabbat dinners in their home, Moishe House provides a space for over 70,000 young adults around the world to create meaningful, welcoming Jewish communities for themselves and their peers each year. To date, there are more than 150 communities in over 40 countries, and we’re still growing!

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating social media and marketing content for Moishe House programs. This position requires strong creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills. The Marketing Specialist must be passionate about Moishe House’s mission and have a strong understanding of the values and online behaviors of young Jewish adult constituents we serve. This position reports to the Vice President, Global Marketing and Communications, and is crucial to the success of the Marketing & Communications work through day-to-day operations.

  • You’ll play a pivotal role in growing the Marketing & Communications initiatives through thought partnership and operational support in four primary areas:
    • Social Media Management
      • Collaborating in the development of the overall social media strategy
      • Working cross-departmentally to uncover the most engaging and effective stories from across the Moisheverse that tell our organizational story
      • Writing post copy
      • Sourcing photos or developing graphics for each post
      • Responding to social media comments and direct messages
      • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on social media metrics, and suggesting improvements or course corrections when goals aren’t on pace
    • Graphic Design
      • Designing marketing collateral, donor-facing one-pagers, social media graphics, invitations, and gifs for internal and external communications, all in alignment with organizational brand standards
      • Completing proactively assigned graphic design projects, and graphic design requests submitted through the internal request process, prioritizing design projects based on deadline and urgency
    • Video Production
      • Creating and editing videos from existing footage for the purposes of social media, donor appeals or proposals, and email marketing
      • Completing assigned video projects and video requests submitted through internal request process, prioritizing video projects based on deadline and urgency
    • E-mail Marketing
      • Assisting with designing and implementing direct email marketing campaigns
      • Designing emails in the email marketing system in accordance with industry best practices
      • Sharing draft emails with approvers and quickly implementing recommended edits
      • Analyzing campaign performance, reporting on email marketing metrics against stated goals, and suggesting improvements as necessary
  • You demonstrate intermediate-level knowledge, skills, and abilities in:
    • Multitasking and project management skills with a high tolerance for ambiguity and shifting priorities
    • Communicating verbally and crafting clear, compelling, and consistent written communications
    • Thinking creatively, and being resourceful and results-focused
  • You have a knack for actualizing big ideas into tangible results
  • You have familiarity with Jewish culture and terminology
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, video production, media arts, or a related field.  Four years of additional communications/ marketing work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • You have at minimum three years of full-time post-undergraduate professional experience, including experience in digital marketing, media strategy, and/or content creation.

The Fine Print:

The Marketing Specialist is a full-time, exempt, year-round position, and requires weekday office hours to complete job requirements. This position works in one of our U.S. Hub Offices (Encinitas, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., or Charlotte), and is supervised by the Vice President, Global Marketing and Communications.

Beginning in August 2022, we’re excited to be returning to a hybrid work schedule at our Hub Offices, where employees can choose to work remotely 2 days per week and will collaborate in-person with coworkers three days per week.

Employees will receive prior notice in advance of starting this new schedule.  Moishe House requires “full vaccination” for all staff to travel, work in offices, and participate in any Moishe House group gatherings. We use the CDC’s definition of “full vaccination” as the standard, with variations based on country as needed.

How Moishe House Pays You:

  • Moishe House’s starting salary ranges are based on education, experience, location, and skillset required for each role. If you have more direct experience in this field than required, and have a different salary in mind, let's talk!
  • This is a full-time, exempt position.
    • Charlotte, NC: $56,000-$60,000/year
    • Chicago, IL: $58,000-$62,000/year
    • Encinitas, CA, NYC or DC: $62,000-$66,000/year
  • Annual merit-based salary increase
